Wedding Photography Contracts
Contracts for Photographers & Creatives
Owning a business is not for the faint of heart. While it sounds dreamy (and often is), being your own boss also requires a constant flow of innovative ideas + a balancing act of wearing a million hats at once. If you’ve ever started a business, you know exactly what I’m talking about. You’re the creative, accountant, lawyer, & copyright specialist, just to name a few roles. You barely have enough time to sleep, and when you DO sleep, you have recurring nightmares about clients & worst-case-scenarios that could possibly play out during a wedding or other important event you’ve been hired for. We know the feeling & have found a way to help!
Every business out there needs a solid game plan, and it’s impossible to do this without solid protection from nightmare clients. This contract collection has everything from a model release section to session pricing & client expectations to help you & your clients sleep better at night.
Let’s pretend for a second that one of your couples cancels their wedding a week before their big day. They already put down a deposit and are asking for their money back. You already turned down half a dozen other clients for that date, since it’s smack dab in the middle of your busy season, so a refund is out of the question. Having a detailed contract not only gives clients clear expectations of how you operate your business, but it also makes sure you aren’t held accountable in those rare occasions when sh*t actually does hit the fan.
We know not everyone has the time or money to hire a lawyer to draft business documents, and hey - we don’t, either. Thomas and I are professional business bootstrappers, so our main goal is to save you money and free up time so you can spend more hours, days, and hopefully weeks with the people you love. We put hours and hours and hours (and hours) into this set to make it the most versatile + most beautiful contract on the web.
The best part is that, with a few clicks of the mouse, you can update the wording, colors, and fonts to make sure your contract is on-point & on-brand.
Time is money. And when you are short on time OR on money, you feel stressed. When you’re stressed, you don’t accomplish nearly as much as you could, which leaves you needing more money and more time. It’s a vicious cycle.
Rest easy knowing that your business is protected. Without having to sit down with a lawyer (who you’re likely paying by the hour), you can make sure you & your clients are on the same page long before your project ever begins.

We are firm believers that good branding is everyone’s business. No one likes paperwork, but sometimes, boring documents come in handy. By having a contract in place, it not only lets clients know that you are a professional, not just a hobbyist, but it also serves as a binding agreement in case a client has a dispute with you or your business. When you aren’t on the same page, refer back to your contract and the terms you both agreed upon to help clear things up.
Thanks for all of your support! Send us a message to let us know your thoughts! We love being able to serve you & are always excited to get your feedback.
P.S. We aren’t lawyers, and this is by no means legal advice. This contract template is simply an alternative method for those of you who plan on DIYing some of your business documents. For more protection, have a legal professional look over your contract to make sure you haven’t left anything out.
