Imagine this : You have an aesthetically pleasing website that’s easy-to-navigate and mobile-friendly. You are providing top-notch products and services, yet your business doesn’t seem to be doing as well as you had hoped. The traffic isn’t as high as you imagined it would be, and your ads don’t seem to be maximizing their reach on Google or Facebook.

While your social media pages are thriving, there is still something missing from your site in order to give it the extra push it needs.

Have you ever felt like you might be missing out by not blogging on Squarespace?

In today’s day and age, in which humans have an attention span less than that of a goldfish, you might assume that blogging isn’t relevant to you or your industry. After all, you aren’t on a reality show, and you don’t have picture-perfect photos of your latest vacation. Who has the time or interest to read long paragraphs about a product or service anyway?

In reality, blogging is actually one of the most effective marketing tools out there. It requires little to no cost to produce and offers great returns in terms of traffic and brand ranking. Below, you will find 5 tips for blogging on Squarespace to help get your wheels turning.

1 . Start blogging on Squarespace regularly

If you have a blog attached to your website, you have the capability of ranking much higher than similar sites within your industry on Google. If you continue to blog on a regular basis, the increase in traffic & Google ranking position is even more drastic.

What exactly do I mean by Google ranking? Well, first and foremost, if someone is searching for one of the products or services that you provide or any other keywords related to your website, a website that is ranked high will show up among the results on the first search page.

You can improve your ranking in a number of ways, but the key factor is to post regularly on your site so it stays updated and allows you to make the best use of SEO practices. Since Google relies on certain algorithms to decide which content is more important than others, it keeps tabs on your site and knows whether or not your site has new content. Whenever you share something new with the world, Google deems your website as relevant and thus gives it a higher placement in searches.

By littering your blog post strategically with keywords related to your product and services, you are ensuring that when Google’s algorithm prepares the search result for a user, you appear as a strong contender.

2. Create inbound links within your website

If your Squarespace site contains useful information & tips to make your readers’ lives easier, bloggers and website owners will have more of an incentive to link to your blog post as a reference. When Google finds your links on other websites, it determines that your source is credible, which is one of the many factors that gets weighed when determining your site’s ranking within that search criteria.

When you do make blog posts, instead of simply stringing words together in order to showcase your products or services, come up with a strategic game plan before writing your content. Think about how each post can be part of a larger series that encourages readers to click through to related posts. When you link to similar blog posts, people are more likely to stay on your website longer.

This not only helps potential clients to find the information they’re looking for, but it also helps your bounce rate, which really just refers to the amount of time users spend on your page before they leave (or ‘bounce’) to another site.

Try to link outside sources as well, as not only it signals Google that you’re using credible sources too, but the other bloggers might wish to return the favor and link you back as well.

3. Don’t be afraid to define your niche

People might find it easier to focus on video content to keep them engaged, but as soon as their interest is peaked, they will likely land on one of your blog posts to help satisfy their curiosity. Blog posts are naturally more detailed and explanatory, giving your followers a significant amount of insight to your services.

Define your ideal audience, even if it’s narrow. By sharing your unique take on a specific topic within your industry, you will be able to create more interest within readers who fall within your niche.

You can always integrate video within your posts as well, which is a win-win for visual junkies, like me. People love to see behind-the-scenes footage of your everyday life along with relevant content to your blog.

If you’re more of a long-winded kind of guy or gal, don’t be afraid to dive deeper into subject matters that you’re passionate about. A blog post that has a lot of thought and research behind it will create more trust within your followers. Readers will know exactly where to turn to whenever they’re searching for content that falls within your area of expertise.

4. Create more content for social media by blogging on Squarespace

Not only is blogging an extremely effective marketing strategy on its own, but it also gives you plenty of content that can be re-shared elsewhere. You can link your Youtube channel to your blog post, which in turn helps drive traffic to your video-based material.

The more blog posts you create, the more content you will have to share on Facebook, Instagram, & Pinterest. For example, take a quote or two from each post & turn them into graphics for Instagram Stories (linking to your blog post, of course).

Each time you create a new blog post, be sure to create coordinating Pinterest pins, too. You can change up the style by designing graphics that tie in with your branding, or start with pre-made social media templates to save you extra time.

When your followers come across your work on more than one platform, they will have a hard time ignoring the product or service you are sharing.

5. While blogging, you absolutely can’t ignore social media.

Be sure to link to your posts on social media each time you update your Squarespace blog. If someone finds your blog through your Facebook page and deems it relevant enough to be shared on their profile, it not only introduces you to a new audience, but is also great for your website in terms of  ranking.

A quick Google search will remind you that sites tend to rank higher on Google when they have a good amount of social shares.

As you can see, blogging on Squarespace not only helps to get your work in front of potential clients, but it also gives you an affordable marketing tool that be used for just about every platform out there.
